Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship

This minimum 3 year apprenticeship consists of:

  • Induction
  • Nine block learning workshops
  • Ongoing assessment
  • A final presentation and interview

HIT is proud to partner with Anglia Ruskin University in facilitating the development of high performing managers and leaders via the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.

The programme duration is three years and encompasses an induction, nine block learning workshops, ongoing assessment and a final presentation and interview. To enable participants to accelerate their development academic input is heavily weighted in year one requiring participants to immediately apply their learning in the workplace.

Participants are required to attend all of the block learning workshops and in between carry out research and analysis, identify business improvement opportunities and implement identified change through managing and leading people. Learning blocks can be delivered at a location convenient to the employer. Evidence of their application of learning to the business is captured via assignments, business projects and presentations that are used to satisfy the degree assessment, apprenticeship standards and chartered manager status. Learners are supported by both academic tutors who lead block learning modules and mentor assignments for the degree assessment and by personal tutors who coach participants in their learning application and sign off workplace evidence for the e-portfolio ready for final assessment and award of Chartered Manager and the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.

Line managers play a vital part in the participants development journey in enabling, supporting and coaching their direct report in implementing their learning in the workplace. Support for managers is provided via their own developmental workshop and the participants personal tutor.


The Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship may be a gateway to further management opportunities.

Entry requirements

Employers will set their own entry requirements. Most candidates will have a level 3 qualification or relevant work/life experience and English and Maths will be required to be demonstrated at a minimum of level 2. 

Due to the necessity for the learner to show evidence of the application of the learning in the workplace it would be anticipated that a candidate is already operating in at least a supervisory management role and/or is on a fast track developing into a managerial role within the duration of the programme.

Participant profile

An employee working 30 hours plus who is either currently or expected to be within the course of the programme; a manager with significant management responsibilities for delivering organisational objectives through people, projects, operations and/or services.
