Max Hastings Commis Chef Apprentice JKS Restaurants Max’s passion for food started with a love for eating and appreciating the diverse flavours and textures that different cuisines offer. As he began cooking for himself and others, he realised the immense satisfaction that came from knowing his culinary creations had the power to positively impact someone’s mood and well- being. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a chef, he says, is the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of people and the never-ending journey of knowledge and growth. It’s a profession that allows him to express his creativity, build meaningful relationships and continuously learn and evolve. Max’s top kitchen gadget is the Thermomix because it can handle a wide range of culinary tasks. JKS Restaurants Founded in 2008, JKS Restaurants operates 14 brands across London. Max is part of the JKS Apprenticeship Academy, a unique experience that sees apprentices complete two-month placements across six restaurants within the JKS portfolio. He has worked at BAO, Bibi, Trishna, Lyle’s, The George and Plaza Khao Gaeng.
