After a thorough review, we’re pleased to announce that HIT Training, incorporating Connect2Care, has been accredited to the Matrix Quality Standard for information advice and guidance services.

The Matrix Standard, put in place by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, is a framework to assess an organisation’s information, advice and guidance services. This is to ensure companies, like HIT Training, that support individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals, are of an acceptable standard.

Prior to receiving the accreditation, the Matrix Standard assessing body gained first-hand understanding of the services provided by HIT Training by speaking with a number of employers and learners. The process included assessing the information, advice and guidance provided to each group, the delivery and support given to learners and its processes for monitoring, reporting and improving the quality of HIT Training’s programme. Furthermore, the Matrix evaluated HIT Training’s overall strategy, management, culture and values, reviewing staff development and marketing.

As well as being awarded the Matrix Quality Standard, the report outlined some of the feedback received from HIT Training’s employers and learners: “Employers spoke about the relationship with HIT being a true partnership, being collaborative and enjoyed having access to a key account manager and one provider that could meet all their training and development needs”.

“Learners confirmed that HIT’s induction process provided them with a clear indication of what to expect in relation to their journey and the support they could anticipate, for example, weekly contact, visits every four-to-six weeks and access to their Training Consultant via telephone and email etc.”

Positive feedback was also provided on HIT Training’s strategy, management and staff development. Highlights include: “Clear direction is provided by the senior leadership team as staff consistently spoke of learners being at the heart of the service delivery and the focus on quality as opposed to quantity”.

“HIT is seen as a ‘family with a heart’, whereby staff feel valued and appreciated for their contribution.”

Discussing the high praise received, HIT Training Managing Director, Jill Whittaker, said: “We’re extremely proud of the programme we have developed. We’ve always aimed to instil our values into everything we do and everyone we work with and it’s great to see that has been apparent throughout the assessment. Though we were confident of receiving the accreditation, to see such high praise at all levels was astounding and is a real credit to the whole HIT Training family - all our learners, employers and employees.”

McMullen’s chose HIT as its sole external provider for Apprenticeships and vocational qualifications in early 2015 and since then we have found them a pleasure to work with.  Their expertise in this sector is superior and they have proven to be a professional and supportive partner who have a passion for learning and development, which matches our own organisation.

Encouraging our staff to improve their skills set and supporting them through apprenticeships and training programmes underlines our commitment to help them further develop their own careers. Offering the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship also gives the Brend Group a point of difference which I’m convinced will help attract new members of staff in the future.

Our partnership with HIT has certainly made recruitment much easier in a very difficult labour market and gives us a point of difference in an increasingly competitive environment.  Kew Green has also benefited enormously from well trained, skilled and competent staff who contribute significantly to the ever improving and high levels of customer experience that our guests expect and deserve.

Apprenticeships allow us to give people a great opportunity to develop a career with us and learn a skill or trade that will accompany them throughout their career and life. We see progression to the Level 4 qualification as key to our strategy of providing development at all stages of an employee’s career with Harrison.
