HIT Training unveils trailblazing Management Academy

Posted on 2 December, 2019

We’re delighted to announce the new HIT Management Academy, which officially launched at our Hospitality Showcase event on 28th November at the stunning Glasshouse on the Lock overlooking London’s Regent Canal.

The HIT Management Academy is for those undergoing supervisory (level 3) and management (level 4 and level 5) apprenticeships and has been especially designed for managers or those aspiring to become managers. The academy builds on their capabilities as leaders enhancing their knowledge, skills and behaviour.

Via an experiential learning programme, a range of chosen topics will be covered in the Academy, including legislation, managing teams, finance management, coaching and mentoring to problem solving and decision making.

Building on our proven expertise in hospitality management, the new Academy tailors learning programmes to specific business needs via bespoke workshops led by seasoned industry professionals. The workshops can be delivered face-to-face or online, via interactive webinars or masterclasses.

Speaking about the launch, Hilary Mosedale, Head of Curriculum at HIT Training, said: “Our new Management Academy caters for all learning styles with a mixed learning package that offers new skills to supervisory and management apprentices alike. Many adults learn best when they are actively participating in what they are doing and the Management Academy’s face-to-face experiential workshops allow participants to try out what they have learnt, helping them to consolidate information.”

  • The HIT Management Academy programme comprises:
  • Interactive online workshops
  • Face-to-face workshops
  • Master classes with experienced industry professionals
  • Bite-size 90-minute webinars
  • MentorMe, the largest hospitality management mentor, which involves expert members from the IOH supporting leadership and management apprentices at Level 3

Speaking at the launch, Jill Whittaker, Managing Director at HIT Training, said: “We recognise the importance of supporting and upskilling at management level to build communication within teams, nurture relationships and enhance effective problem solving. These are just a few of the skills that are taught as part of the Academy that we are confident will prove invaluable to hospitality businesses.

“Our professional workshops will allow employers to develop their teams’ skills in a fast-moving and highly competitive industry. We also know that by developing coaching skills, we are improving the way managers work with their teams, encouraging loyalty and further development within businesses. This produces an engaged and motivated workforce and brings vital commercial benefits in terms of staff retention and productivity. By producing bespoke courses, HIT is enabling hospitality businesses to boost their ROI and add real commercial value to training.”

McMullen’s chose HIT as its sole external provider for Apprenticeships and vocational qualifications in early 2015 and since then we have found them a pleasure to work with.  Their expertise in this sector is superior and they have proven to be a professional and supportive partner who have a passion for learning and development, which matches our own organisation.

Amanda Walden – Training & Recruitment Manager, McMullen's

Encouraging our staff to improve their skills set and supporting them through apprenticeships and training programmes underlines our commitment to help them further develop their own careers. Offering the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship also gives the Brend Group a point of difference which I’m convinced will help attract new members of staff in the future.

Andrew Mosedale - Group HR Manager, Brend Hotels

Our partnership with HIT has certainly made recruitment much easier in a very difficult labour market and gives us a point of difference in an increasingly competitive environment.  Kew Green has also benefited enormously from well trained, skilled and competent staff who contribute significantly to the ever improving and high levels of customer experience that our guests expect and deserve.

Andrew Tregenza - HR Business Partner, Kew Green Hotels

Apprenticeships allow us to give people a great opportunity to develop a career with us and learn a skill or trade that will accompany them throughout their career and life. We see progression to the Level 4 qualification as key to our strategy of providing development at all stages of an employee’s career with Harrison.

Alex Taylor - Training Manager, Harrison Catering Services

There is a shortage of skilled chefs within in our industry at present and any organisation that truly believes in the value of training and development of bright future stars will enable themselves to be in a strong position for the years ahead. Investing in smart training and development is at the heart of what we do within WSH, so it has been refreshing to work alongside HIT within our Baxterstorey Chef Academy.
