There isn’t a business within the hospitality industry that’s not affected by staff shortages. Organisations large and small are struggling to attract and retain the talent they need to help their business not only run effectively, but to grow. This isn’t a challenge that can be solved on a case-by-case basis, it’s an industry-wide problem that needs an industry-wide solution.
2019 is going to be challenging for everyone, so we need to do all that we can to protect our industry and provide aspirational career opportunities to the next generation of hospitality stars.
Which is why we’re calling on Levy-paying businesses to pledge a percentage of their Apprenticeship Levy pot to sponsor an apprentice at an SME within the sector. Currently 65% of hospitality companies which pay the Apprenticeship Levy are unaware they can transfer 25% of their funds to help support smaller businesses or charities in the industry.
By launching this initiative, we hope to bring the industry together to provide multiple career opportunities for all generations of workers looking to enter the hospitality sector, while making waves to not only reduce the skills gap but also build the workforce of tomorrow.
