Lewis Weygang Commis Chef Apprentice The Horse & Groom Wilmington Lewis’s passion for food started at a young age when he began baking. He became a part-time pot wash while studying graphic design at college - didn’t like the course - so gave cooking a go. From then on, his love of food grew and grew. As Commis Chef at The Horse and Groom Wilmington, Lewis thrives on working with people that share a passion for food. He loves exploring and creating new dishes and says the best thing about being a chef is when customers come back for more. Lewis’s biggest foodie icon is his Nan (ahhh) who is also a food lover and encouraged him to become a chef. Best kitchen tool is the food mixer for pastry and making life easier. The Horse & GroomWilmington The Horse & Groom is a friendly pub that serves a daily selection of classic British dishes with a modern twist. Everything is prepared on site using locally sourced and seasonal produce wherever possible. They are best known for their fish dishes and desserts – which are all homemade. The Horse & Groom believes in giving apprentices a chance to experience hospitality and learn on the job, saying that apprentices with a passion to learn makes for a more engaged and committed team.
