HIT supports new platform to promote pub and hospitality careers

HIT Training is delighted to support a new, free-to-use membership platform launched by the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII).

Workforce has been created to promote career opportunities in pubs and hospitality, as well as providing practical support and inspiration for members, all via its online platform and social media channels.

Playing a key part in the initiative, and as the only training provider with a dedicated Brewer Apprenticeship, HIT will be making our expertise and resources available via the website by providing advice, information and guidance for teams and showcasing inspiring career stories from across the industry and beyond.

This includes the power of apprenticeships and how training and development can support the BII’s members and the wider pub and hospitality sector in furthering the careers of their teams.

HIT’s Licensed Trade Director and National Brewer Lead Jeremy Scorer is thrilled to be part of the initiative and looks forward to promoting (blogging and podcasting!) the diverse nature of pubs and hospitality, to help attract and retain existing talent within the sector.

“Professional development and apprenticeships play an important part in retaining talent in our industry and it’s important that we share our success stories to show the impact that training can have on a business,” said Jeremy.

Apprenticeships provide a structured pathway into a hospitality career. They offer individuals the opportunity to earn while they learn, allowing them to gain valuable work experience, develop skills, and progress within their chosen field. They provide a hands-on learning experience where individuals can acquire industry knowledge and gain invaluable practical skills in their chosen profession.

As the leading trade body supporting individuals running independent pubs, the BII has collaborated with a plethora of organisations and individual experts to create the platform, including one of HIT’s charity partners, Only A Pavement Away.

Speaking about how it has never been more important to nurture and develop the homegrown talent that exists within licensed trade, BII CEO Steve Alton said: “Workforce will be instrumental in creating a free-to-use community for team members from across the sector, enabling their growth and development in our fantastic industry.

“Collaboration is at the heart of everything the BII does, so having HIT on board as a partner to support us with their expert guidance around training and apprenticeships, has been key. We are delighted to be working with the whole team, especially being able to share Jeremy’s incredible experience and knowledge of our sector with Workforce members.

I am incredibly proud we are able to launch this free-to-use platform, promoting the incredible career opportunities that exist for people from all walks of life in the pub sector and supporting BII members as they recruit and nurture the next generation of amazing talent.
