EDN’s Coaching Professional training course is a Level 5 apprenticeship aimed at those with responsibility for developing and coaching more junior members of staff. The programme focuses on developing effective coaching skills, including being future focussed, releasing potential, and enabling transition, transformation and change for business improvement.
This course takes a minimum of 14 months to complete.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to work with a wide range of individuals and teams across organisations, to empower and engage with them to enhance their professional performance. Coaching is a way of leading in a non-directive manner, helping people to learn through deep listening and reflective, open questions rather than instructing, giving advice or making suggestions.
Coaching is a way of treating people, a way of thinking and a way of being which is seen as vital to supporting individuals and organisations in increasingly volatile and ever-changing environments.
Coaching professionals can work across industries or within sectors such as education and training. Their responsibilities vary but can include:
Employers will set their own entry requirements in order to start on this apprenticeship.

On completion, the coaching professional could progress to a full teaching role within an education and training provider organisation.

Apprentices will need to pass maths and English Functional Skills level 2 during their apprenticeship.

EDN assigns a designated Vocational Trainer to each apprentice who will be in regular contact with the apprentice to coach, mentor and discuss progress.
