Success stories

I feel as though I have increased understanding of hospitality. I’m beginning to delve deeper into the legislation and laws that surround the industry meaning I am carrying out my job in a safe and professional way.

My apprenticeships not only gave me the qualifications to progress in my career, but they really boosted my confidence and gave me an amazing chance to develop my long term career prospects.

I have gained a huge amount of experience, not just in how to be a chef but in time management, handling responsibility in the kitchen and organising my work load.

It’s been a good journey and quite a learning curve but Neil and the HIT team have been there to support me all the way.

If someone had told me at the start of my career that I’d be in a supervisor position within three years, I wouldn’t have believed them.

I’m thrilled to have completed the new Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship! The encouragement I’ve had from my manager and HIT has been second to none. I would definitely recommend a hospitality apprenticeship to anyone.

Completing the apprenticeship meant going the extra mile to improve myself, so I could progress further within the company. I feel that I am much calmer as a result and that I cope better in leading the team.

I’ve learnt so many new skills and I make sure that I apply everything I learn to my job. My HIT trainer has been a great help every step of the way and I feel I have so much support from start to finish.

I am managing more staff and I’m taking on new tasks which I previously did not have the confidence to do - Carolyn Hurworth

I am so much more self-assured when dealing with customers and when I’m demonstrating to colleagues how things are supposed to be done - Yvonne Lee

The apprenticeships are such an amazing route to take if you are thinking about a career as a chef. They teach you so much and give you that extra confidence boost when you receive your completion certificates.

I cannot thank HIT and Hannah enough for all their help and support. It is a real pleasure to work with them. Together we give young people attention and hope for the future and our relationship does not end the minute they walk out the door.

We are committed to developing all of our employees whether permanent, temporary, full time or part time as we consider our workforce to be an asset in which we must invest to achieve our business objectives. We believe passionately that all employees have the potential to grow and we endeavour to provide opportunities for this growth.

HIT provides excellent support and resource in the design and delivery of bespoke solutions, which helps us to implement our learning and talent development strategy effectively.

Encouraging our staff to improve their skills set and supporting them through apprenticeships and training programmes underlines our commitment to help them further develop their own careers.

Working with HIT Training is perfect because their Trainer Assessors come to the work place to train and assess the staff. This is a big bonus – rather than losing everybody on one set day for them to go to college.

My apprenticeships have been invaluable in helping to build my career as a chef, although I had received brilliant training from the chefs at my first job, the apprenticeship has opened so many doors for me and allowed me to be the best chef I can be.

The apprenticeship programme with HIT really fits in with my working hours and my personal life, and I get on really well with my Assessor.  It has been a great experience all round.

Testimonials

McMullen’s chose HIT as its sole external provider for Apprenticeships and vocational qualifications in early 2015 and since then we have found them a pleasure to work with.  Their expertise in this sector is superior and they have proven to be a professional and supportive partner who have a passion for learning and development, which matches our own organisation.

Amanda Walden – Training & Recruitment Manager, McMullen's

Encouraging our staff to improve their skills set and supporting them through apprenticeships and training programmes underlines our commitment to help them further develop their own careers. Offering the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship also gives the Brend Group a point of difference which I’m convinced will help attract new members of staff in the future.

Andrew Mosedale - Group HR Manager, Brend Hotels

Our partnership with HIT has certainly made recruitment much easier in a very difficult labour market and gives us a point of difference in an increasingly competitive environment.  Kew Green has also benefited enormously from well trained, skilled and competent staff who contribute significantly to the ever improving and high levels of customer experience that our guests expect and deserve.

Andrew Tregenza - HR Business Partner, Kew Green Hotels

Apprenticeships allow us to give people a great opportunity to develop a career with us and learn a skill or trade that will accompany them throughout their career and life. We see progression to the Level 4 qualification as key to our strategy of providing development at all stages of an employee’s career with Harrison.

Alex Taylor - Training Manager, Harrison Catering Services

We chose HIT as our training provider not only because of their specialist knowledge of the hospitality industry, but also because of their genuine passion for our brand and their understanding of our company culture. We believe that they can deliver our training to a very high standard whilst passing on our company ethos and values. Their attention to detail is second to none.

Charlotte Thoms, Talent Manager, Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group

There is a shortage of skilled chefs within in our industry at present and any organisation that truly believes in the value of training and development of bright future stars will enable themselves to be in a strong position for the years ahead. Investing in smart training and development is at the heart of what we do within WSH, so it has been refreshing to work alongside HIT within our Baxterstorey Chef Academy.
