Victoria Mario – Reception Supervisor at The Maldron Hotel

“The apprenticeship has really helped me recognise my strengths and set an even higher standard in my work. It’s rewarding to see the impact on our guests and to help my team thrive”

Why an apprenticeship?

Victoria Mario, Reception Supervisor at The Maldron Hotel, decided to take on a Hospitality Supervisor apprenticeship with a focus on Front Office Supervision to formalise her skills and build her expertise.

When she first saw the apprenticeship opportunity advertised at work, she recognised it as an ideal way to develop professionally while contributing even more to her role.

Balancing her daily responsibilities with her apprenticeship wasn’t without its challenges. Victoria’s busy role as a Reception Supervisor required her to maintain smooth check-ins, uphold hotel standards and support her team – all while completing her apprenticeship. At times, the workload seemed overwhelming, but her HIT Training mentor, Jason, provided the support and encouragement she needed to keep going. “Jason reminded me of how much I had already achieved and reassured me that I was more than capable,” Victoria said. His guidance helped her complete her training, equipping her with the knowledge and confidence to continue excelling.

Benefitting my business

Victoria’s apprenticeship has elevated her approach to guest service, empowering her to deliver even more memorable experiences for guests. As Reception Supervisor, she is responsible not only for efficient check-ins and check-outs but also for creating a welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels valued. Her apprenticeship has strengthened her skills in team supervision and guest management, allowing her to lead by example and inspire her team to uphold these high standards.

The training has also boosted Victoria’s confidence, encouraging her to share her expertise with new recruits and help maintain the hotel’s reputation for outstanding service.
