What is an apprenticeship training plan?

An Apprenticeship Training Plan (formerly known as the commitment statement) is a document that outlines the training and development activities that will be undertaken by an apprentice during their apprenticeship.

The exact content of the Apprentice Training Plan can vary depending on the industry, the level of apprenticeship and the training provider, but typically includes the following:

  • Employer and training provider commitments, as well as what the learner can anticipate
  • Dates for the commencement and anticipated conclusion of the apprenticeship programme
  • Learner commitments and expectations throughout training and employment eligibility verification
  • Information about the apprentice, employer, training organisation, and end-point assessment body
  • The procedure for resolving questions or grievances
  • Schedule for learning, containing information on courses, delivery, and evaluation.

The Apprenticeship Training Plan is a key document for ensuring that apprentices receive the training and development they need to succeed in their chosen occupation. It is typically developed by the employer, the apprentice, and the training provider, and is reviewed and updated regularly throughout the apprenticeship to ensure that it remains relevant and effective.
